Prince George, B.C. – Yet another successful Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation Festival of Trees event has come and gone.
This year’s 23rd annual 10-day festival included a call to action in support of the Breast Health Imaging Centre for UHNBC.
Spirit of the North’s funding toward the centre amounts to a $500,000 ask from Northern Health, and this year’s Gala Fundraising Auction saw $200,000 raised towards this goal.
The largest of the 263 donors was a contribution made by the Prince George Cougars 50/50 Society with a cheque for just over $50,000.
The money represents the proceeds from the Cougars Pink in the Rink game last month versus the Prince George Raiders.
Preliminary numbers show that over $670,000 was raised through the full event. It was also a milestone year for Spirit of the North as it celebrated its 25th year anniversary.
