Two Charged in Counterfeit Investigation
Prince George, B.C. – Two people are in custody related to what police are calling “a possible counterfeiting ring.”
Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass adds the ring may involve “many other communities.”
He says at around 2 this morning a police officer was alerted to a convenience store clerk on 20th Ave. after the clerk advised police that a woman had recently passed counterfeit American currency in the business and “had fled in a distinctive vehicle.”
“The vehicle, bearing Alberta licence plates, was located a short time later at a convenience store on 15th Ave.” says Douglass.
“A 33-year-old man from Dawson Creek and a 32-year-old woman from Spruce Grove Alberta were in the vehicle and taken into custody without incident. Both suspects were in possession of counterfeit American currency. Pre-paid cards that were purchased from the first convenience store and other counterfeiting evidence was located.”
He says police are sharing this information with detachments in other communities to determine if this has happened elsewhere.
If you have any information about this case, you are asked to call police.
