Prince George, B.C. – The Food for Fare program in Prince George wrapped last week, and this morning, Mayor Lyn Hall, Susan Scott and P.G. Transit Delivery Manager Jeff Waters delivered the goods.
The annual three day event lets people board P.G. Transit buses for no cash if the passenger makes a donation of a non perishable food item.
Three boxes of food from that program were delivered this morning to the Salvation Army.
While donations were down from past programs, the air quality advisory may have had an impact on reduced donations as P.G. Transit offers free rides to all during such air quality events. Still, every little bit helps.
The Salvation Army has prepared nearly 400 hampers to be delivered to the less fortunate this Christmas, and the donations of food will help stock up the food bank.

This Mayor and Council continues to impress me with their “community mindedness”. Increasing support for non-profit community associations, holding outdoor barbeques in the VLA last summer, hosting Talktober community engagement sessions, investing in City infrastructure above ground on our roads and sidewalks, and below ground in our water mains and sewers, etc.
And still not one trip to China, and no more of our tax money going into hair-brained ”business” schemes like the airport expansion, where we have next to zero chance of any return on our hard earned tax dollars. Way to go Mayor Lynn Hall and City Council, stay “community minded” and you will get our support again next election!
Unlike BeingHuman, I think the Smoke and Mirrors of the non profits versus the Marriott debacle, may be the undoing of a few of our Councillors and perhaps the mayor, in the next municipal election??
Hair-brained ”business” schemes? Like the Marriott?
Selective memory strikes again!
