Lieutenant Governor’s New Year’s Message
Victoria, B.C. – B.C.’s Lieutenant Governor, Judith Guichon, is sending along this message to herald the New Year:
“Happy New Year! I extend my best wishes to all British Columbians as we join together in 2017 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation.
“Ours is a nation born of conversation. The discussion started with the Fathers of Confederation and it continued through the decades, across the Great Lakes and the prairies and over the mountains until we became this incredible nation from sea to sea to sea.
“As Canada continues to evolve, becoming more diverse and inclusive, we have a shared responsibility to carry on the conversation that started 150 years ago. Canada’s sesquicentennial is an opportunity to renew our care for our great land, to focus on reconciliation with our Indigenous peoples and to engage with youth about their vision for our nation’s future.
“Throughout 2017, I look forward to hosting and participating in a number of events that celebrate Canada 150, many of which will focus on diversity, reconciliation, youth and the environment. I plan to engage in conversation with youth by visiting 150 schools in British Columbia, to speak with students about Canada’s constitutional monarchy, to encourage their participation in our democracy and to share ideas about a healthy and sustainable future for all.
“Join me this year in celebrating our history, culture and achievements as Canadians and let us all work together to continue to build this great nation.”

Today marks the start of a new year, the year in which we celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation. Last night the celebrations started in our nation’s Capital! One would think that our Prime Minister would have been there, to celebrate the New Year with the people of Canada!
But nope! The idiot at the helm of our great nation has once again chosen to celebrate the New Year some where else, some other sunny warm locale, far away and far removed from Canada! This marks his second New Years as Prime Minister and the second one where he has chosen to be absent from Canada for the New Years celebration.
From the National Post: “As Canada begins celebrating ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ anniversary, Trudeau is in some other country on holiday”
Perhaps “sunny ways” actually meant warm, sunny days, lying on a beach away from the cloud cover in Canada?
150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation! Does anybody know where the Prime Minister is?? What a pathetic joke!
I remember when our country actually had a Prime Minister! Sigh!

It’s New Years. Big deal. I can see you getting cranky if JT doesn’t call you on your birthday or something. Canada’s birthday is on July 1st.
Hmmm, but didn’t he just say “150 years in the making and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ring in the New Year together”?
And so we start off the New Year with Hart Guy bellyaching about our Prime Minister, what else is new? Can someone fix that broken record?
Us Cons get to complain about Justin, just like the Lib-tards got to complain about Harper! You got a problem with that?
One would think that you would be far too busy making money, collecting bottles, food donations, etc. to donate to the poor, the downtrodden, the homeless and the drug addicted to be here posting!
Speaking of broken records… ever look in the mirror BH?
Awww… things aren’t going so well for you on the other discussion thread?
