Prince George, B.C. – North District RCMP says the body of the person killed in an avalanche near Valemount on Friday has now been recovered.

Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says Jasper Rescue from Alberta attended the avalanche scene in the area of Clemina, southeast of Valemount, on Saturday to assess the scene and aid in the recovery of the male who was killed while snowmobiling.  Valemount RCMP and Search and Rescue aided in the recovery.

Following the accident early Friday afternoon Search and Rescue personnel had gone to the area but determined the scene was too unstable to facilitate the recovery at that time.

I didn’t understand it the last 10 times, and still don’t understand these totally preventable deaths. Condolences to the family!

That’s right, use the internet to blame people that die enjoying themselves in the outdoors that were part of a group that made a mistake. Always the same from you isn’t it? Mr compassionateless.

I wonder how many of the people going out into the back country actually take a shovel and check the layers of snow, or have any idea how to do it, so they know what the conditions are like prior to roaring around on their sleds?
It is really a game of Russian Roulette.
These mistakes are akin to the snowboarders going out of bounds, it is a chance you take, some you win, and regrettably, some you lose.

If there wasnt danger involved, there wouldnt be adrenaline. If there wasnt adrenaline the thrill seekers would find something else.

It simple human nature. In the end some win, some loose. We cant all live forever.
