Prince George, B.C. – The Cariboo Cougars have advanced to the semi-finals at the Mac’s Midget AAA Hockey Tournament in Calgary.

The Cougars, who won the tournament with a thrilling, double-overtime victory in the final on New Year’s Day, 2015, beat the Prince Albert Mintos 4-1 in one of this morning’s quarter-finals at the Father David Bauer Arena.  Belarus blanked Red Deer 4-0 in the other early quarter-final.

The victory means the Cougars will face Belarus at 2 this afternoon Prince George time in the first of the tournament’s semi-final games today.    Both the Cariboo Cougars and Belarus went undefeated in their four preliminary round games.

The two winners of today’s semi-finals advance to Sunday’s championship final at the Scotiabank Saddledome at 3 pm, Prince George time.
