Prince George, B.C. – Need a hand disposing of that Christmas tree? Then look no further.

The Prince George Central Lions Club is holding its annual Christmas tree pick up in the CN Centre parking lot today and tomorrow from 10-4 p.m.

As of around 1 p.m. this afternoon they’d picked up around a dozen trees which is slightly off pace and something they attribute to the weather.

Duaine Yezovich says the service is by donation with all proceeds going to helping the less fortunate in our community.

“If they need to go to Vancouver or they’ve got some medical issues, we look into it, help them out if we can for those earning lower incomes. The things some of us take for granted.”

It may cost you a little more, but the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George says you have several other options too.

Here are the transfer stations/landfills that accept yard and garden waste. Christmas trees included, provided they are not larger than three inches in diameter and have been stripped of all their decorations:

  • Foothills Blvd Regional Landfill
  • Vanway Transfer Station
  • Quinn Street Recycling Depot
  • Mackenzie Regional Transfer Station
  • Shelley Transfer Station
