Warmer Weather on the Way

Friday, January 13, 2017 @ 5:55 AM

Prince George, B.C. – It’s not exactly flip flop weather but the deep freeze Prince George residents have been experiencing is ending.

“Yes, well after being under the influence of this cold, Arctic ridge these past few days, we are going to see a change in the weather pattern as we move into the weekend,” says Environment Canada meteorologist Alyssa Charbonneau.

“Westerly wind flows will bring moist, warm Pacific air and that means first an increase in cloud but then temperatures will start to rise as well.”

She expects daytime highs to reach minus 13 today but notes it will become gradually warmer as the days go on.

“We’re looking at highs tomorrow of minus 9 and on Sunday of minus 5. And then when we get into the beginning of next week – we’re climbing above freezing for the day time highs.”

But don’t get to used to it warns Charbonneau.

“There’s certainly still the potential for a lot of winter yet, so my suggestion is for people to just take the warmer weather while they can get it and make the most of it.”
