Prince George, B.C. – City crews were busy in upper College Heights on Saturday installing a valve on a watermain that sprang a leak this month.
Earlier last week workers went through the system to locate the source of the leak and eventually pinpointed it to the valve located across Southridge Avenue from the southern entrance to St. Anthony Crescent. That’s where crews and equipment were set up Saturday morning to dig the hole, locate the watermain, install the valve and complete the operation.
One resident of St. Frances Crescent says the water problems began about two weeks ago resulting in reduced water pressure and some flooding in the vicinity of the watermain. She had filled her bathtub with water on Saturday in the event water service was cut off during the repairs. However, she says she lives just on the edge of the affected area and consequently did not lose her water supply.
Some residents at higher elevations such as Vista Ridge were without water during the valve replacement operation.
