Prince George, B.C. – Put some fun in front of a kid and there’s a pretty good chance they’ll have some.
That was the case Sunday as kids young and young at heart gathered for the Nordic Winter Festival at the Otway Nordic Centre. Hundreds of people, including many families, turned out in perfect weather conditions to take advantage of a full day of sports hosted by the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club.
“Come on, let’s catch the old guy”
There was a pancake breakfast, Chocolate Races (in which every entrant receives a chocolate bar upon completion of the race), introductory ski lessons and plenty of instruction and assistance from qualified Nordic ski instructors, free waxing demos, opportunities to try out the Biathlon event and other activities as well.
The youngster wearing bib #36 was smiling at the start of the chocolate race and was still smiling at the finish line. Having fun.
The Piston Bully was on hand in the afternoon and there was an opportunity to talk with the Head Groomer and get a tour of the machine.
And this young beginner was pleased at crossing the finish line first in his race. Wonder if he’ll be back…..
Just in case anyone felt a chill or hunger on a sunny Sunday, hot dogs and hot chocolate were available by donation.
