Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Crime Stoppers Society capped off Crime Stopper Month by handing out some hardware this afternoon at the RCMP detachment on Victoria Street.

Constable Derek Rondeau was named the Prince George Crime Stoppers Office of the Year for his “dedication and experience” leading to “dozens of charges” thanks to Crime Stopper Tips from the public.

Rondeau transferred to Prince George from the Fort St. James detachment early last year and said he was just doing his job.

“Anytime I get a file I try to put the most effort I can into it and don’t treat anything as a minor incident for the community.”

In addition to that General duty ‘D’ Watch was named as the top general duty watch at the detachment for following on tips that led to more arrests and charges than ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’ watch.

RCMP Supt. Warren Brown thanked Crime Stoppers for its assistance calling their work “invaluable.”

“Without a program like this we’d have huge gaps in our community so I just can’t say enough positive things about them.”
