Racing at Purden Ski Village
Prince George, B.C. – Young up-and-coming ski racers from across northern B.C. take to the slopes at Purden Ski Village this weekend in the first ever Nancy Greene North Zone Festival.
The Prince George Ski Club is hosting more than one hundred racers from ski clubs including Powder King, Smithers, Quesnel, Williams Lake and Prince George at the two-day meet.
Racers will be competing in a dual combined Giant Slalom race, dual slalom, a kombi obstacle course, speed trap and jump skills. One of the organizers, Deanna Devlin, says it provides an opportunity to bring young northern athletes together in a fun and friendly competition.
Racing kicks off at approximately 10 am this morning with the dual combined GS event and continues until roughly 2pm. The dual combined Slalom opens Sunday’s competition at about 10 am and continues through to the speed trap runs starting around 12:30pm. The awards ceremony will close the meet at approximately 2:30pm.
Anyone interested in volunteering to help make this event a success can contact Deanna Devlin at (250) 981-8880. Volunteers receive a complimentary lift ticket and lunch and get to take in some great racing.
