PG Hails Chamber Week

Monday, February 20, 2017 @ 2:45 PM

Prince George, B.C. – Both the provincial government and the City of Prince George have proclaimed Feb. 20-24 Chamber of Commerce Week.

The annual event recognizes the steady commitment chambers across the province make in supporting local businesses, boosting economic development opportunities and providing important resources in our community.

Prince George Chamber of Commerce CEO Christie Ray adds Chamber Week also helps shed light on the important role small businesses play in our community.

“In B.C., about 98 per cent of businesses are made up of small businesses and in Prince George just over 90 per cent of our membership is made up on small and medium sized businesses,” she says.

“And that really says a lot about our community and how small business is the backbone of the economy and the community.”

Ray says this week the Chamber will be assisting local businesses by helping them to access apprenticeship training opportunities by hosting a “Business After 5” networking even with the Industry Training Authority.

The event will take place after 5 pm this Thursday at the Twisted Cork.

Ooooh yeehah! PG will totally benefit and all the citizens will prosper! WHEN? Who knows…….

The Chamber serves its members in the same way as all trade associations do. They are their client.

What other industry associations does the City “hail” with an industry specific week?

For instance, starting on Wednesday of this week the ABCFP is hosting their annual conference and AGM in Prince George. It, too, is an industry association.

So far the week has not been “hailed” by the City.
