Prince George, B.C. – By day, Nikki Kassel works as a nurse at the University Hospital of Northern B.C, but now she has a silver medal for her tireless work in another discipline.
Kassel placed second in the Klosters World Cup Masters Cross Country Skiing event in Switzerland yesterday.
She finished her 15 km race with a time of 51.14,9, just four minutes and eleven seconds behind the gold medalist, Natalia Ziatikova .
When Kassel took to the podium to receive her silver medal, she didn’t go it alone. In a photo posted on facebook, Nikki can be seen clutching a stuffed “Mr. P.G”.
Kassel isn’t ready to head home just yet, she has two more races ahead of her, one tomorrow, another on Wednesday.
