Prince  George  BC – It was graduation day today for youth who attended the PG RCMP Youth Academy.

As is the case every year, youth are invited to take part in a week long boot camp that gives them a taste of what they will need to do should they decide to join the RCMP.

Over the course of the first week of March break participants learn self defense  tactics, take  part in physical fitness exercises and learn what it takes to be a Mountie

Today 26 youth were honoured at a graduation ceremony at Kelly Road Secondary having successfully completed the week long training. For some,  the Academy experience will confirm their decision to pursue a career in the RCMP.

I would hope there is frank and honest discussion with these young cadets about the violent, tragic, events that RCMP are exposed to on a near daily basis. PTSD rates among RCMP officers is quite high for a reason.

This is an excellent, positive team builder for these cadets. The self discipline alone is an incredible tool for use in life. Glad the Mounties put this on. Another excellent training system is the Rocky Mountain Rangers, teaches youth so much. Lets not forget Air, Army and Navy Cadets.
All excellent tools for the future.

My grandson went through this program. Did an awesome job and then joined the military as a combat engineer! We need peace officers to ensure public saftey, but in some cases the justice system does them wrong by dropping cases due to technicalities and lawyer jargon. IE: loopholes, plea bargaining, stay of proceedings, and the list goes on.Their hard investigation work sonetimes is all for naught, and this creates frustration! Been there done that! All the power to them if they take this route!

It’s a fuzzy picture but the first row doesn’t look like a bunch of visible minority kids to me. Good luck getting into the RCMP.

That was an ugly comment axman, nice of you to drag this discussion into the gutter!

Political Correctness is very ugly indeed!

Ah yes, not being “political correct” the ultimate excuse for racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, behaviour and comments. The Donald would be so proud of you.
