Prince George, B.C. – “Finally.”

The words of Prince George-Mackenzie NDP candidate Bobby Deepak in response to news the provincial government plans to finally replace Kelly Road Secondary School.

On Friday, Liberal MLAs Mike Morris and Shirley Bond announced the government would be replacing the 56-year-old school at a cost of $44.3 million (with the Prince George School District chipping in $1 million. See previous story here).

“Her (Christy Clark) pre-election spending promises are hard to believe and it’s sad it had to wait for an election campaign,” says Deepak.

“We know that Christy Clark has neglected and fought against our public education system for a very long time.”

But he still supports the building of the new school.

“Yes, John Horgan and I both support replacing Kelly Road Secondary but it should have been replaced long ago, not prior to an election.”
