Prince George, B.C.- One woman is in custody and the vehicle she was driving has been recovered, following a late night attempt to evade police.

On Monday April 10th, 2017 at approximately 2:00 AM, members of the Prince George RCMP’s General Duty Section located a stolen Dodge Neon being driven on Carney Street in Prince George. The vehicle had been stolen from Three Hills Alberta on March 31st, 2017.  Officers activated emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the vehicle.  The driver accelerated at a high rate of speed and ran a red light at the intersection of Carney Street and Winnipeg Street.  Police did not pursue.

Just before midnight the same day, the Dodge Neon was observed driving westbound on North Nechako Road. The driver of the vehicle accelerated directly at an occupied police vehicle.  The officer evaded the collision and the suspect fled towards Highway 97.  Moments later the vehicle was stopped attempting to drive up the off ramp from Highway 97.  The female driver was arrested.  Search of the vehicle found a small amount of cocaine and methamphetamine.
