Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Cougars Society have stepped forward in a big way to support both the Cariboo Cougars and the 2017Telus Cup.

The fundraising arm of the Prince George Cougars did so by handing over a $20,000 cheque in support of next week’s 2017 Telus Cup and another $40,000 cheque in support of the Cariboo Cougars at CN Centre this morning.

“Well the Prince George Cougars are all about hockey and community and being part of the fabric of what makes Prince George a great lace to live and the Telus Cup is a national tournament, it’s great for Prince George and it’s great for everybody,” said Cougars business VP Andy Beesley.

“So, we felt we wanted to contribute in a significant way with our time, with our energy, with our help.”

The Prince George Cougars Society raises funds through the Cougars 50/50 draws during the hockey season and through the Cougars Annual Alumni Golf Tournament plus any other fundraising efforts during the year.

Trevor Sprague, coach and GM of the Cariboo Cougars, was very grateful for the support.

“It’s awesome. Our parents and our volunteers are amazing and for them a lot of this goes right to (funding) the Mac’s Tournament,” he said.

“We go at Christmas time and this will provide a bit of relief for the parents so they don’t have to worry about the hotel or food and travel and any of that.”

My eyes, my eyes, its leaking tears.

The Cougars are great hockey entertainment> But more importantly the franchise is a huge asset to P.G..TKS for all you have contributed.

So when we are at the Cougars games. it is announced that proceeds go to Charities in our region. I understand that the Telus Cup organizers and the parents of 20+ Caribou Cougar players are most appreciative to receive funds to aid in paying expenses…I guess this meets the definition of a Charity.
