P.G. Man Identified as Homicide Victim Near Hope
Prince George, B.C. – A body discovered earlier this week on a forest service road north of Hope, has been identified as that of a young man from Prince George.
The body of 20 year old Michael Walter Bonin of Prince George, was discovered early on April 20th. Based on the evidence at scene, the investigation was quickly deemed a homicide and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took conduct.
IHIT investigators are working closing with the UFVRD, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section, and the BC Coroner’s Service.
From the evidence gathered so far, the homicide appears to be targeted. It remains early in the investigation, and police are working to establish what occurred leading up to the homicide. It is unknown if the location where Mr. Bonin’s body was located was where the murder occurred.
Cpl. Meghan FOSTER of IHIT says, “As the investigation is its early stages, there remain many unanswered questions. Anyone with information about Mr. Bonin’s homicide is asked to contact the police.”
