Prince George, B.C. – The ribbon has finally been cut and the 40th annual Canadian Home Builders Association of B.C. Home Show is now underway.

CEO Terry McConnachie says 150 vendors are on site showcasing a wide range of products from things for your kitchen to roofing and landscaping.

As for the weather, she says it’s out of her control.

“You know what? I’ve been organizing events, especially outdoor events, for so many years I just don’t let it flummox me. So, it’s full steam ahead, rain or shine.”

Located at Kins 1, 2 and 3, this year’s edition of the home show is open until 8 p.m. tonight, tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

McConachie says last year’s Home Show pulled in just over 11,000 people.

How much is it to get in? Although I’d rather not pay to have people try to sell me something…

How about they change the name to better reflect the true nature of the show……….The 2017 Prince George Hot Tub Show. No thanks

I agree, always strange to pay to have people pitch their wares to you.. but does get all the businesses together so you can chat with them all if you want..

My dad would go to these every year and every year that big bright red “S” on his forehead got bigger I lost count the amount of crap he bought at the home shows and never used after he died we threw out 4 garbage cans full of stuff he bought there.

But on the other hand you do pick up several handy tips and tricks at the home shows to

There is a nominal fee probably $5 bucks maybe less for seniors.

I see Christy Clarks bus roll into town just after 3PM. She will be at Mike Morris and Shirley Bonds campaign office around 530pm. Wonder if she will show up at the home show and wander through.

$8 to walk through? No thanks. Looked at the vendor list and it’s the who’s who of nothing to do with home and garden. Unless you consider food, nail polish and the 3 political parties vying for election home and garden related. Only one or two of the booths even seemed interesting and I can check that out online – nearly free of charge.

yesss it was a BIG disapointment this year. Checked out two buildings then asked at the front if there was only two buildings to see and they said yes.. soooo where was the third building???

The vendors sure didn’t emit any enthusiasm … kinda like a boring place to be at.. was a waste of money
