Prince George, B.C.- Today, as is the case every April 28th, a somber gathering at the Workers Memorial in Prince George to mark the National Day of Mourning for those who died either on the job or from job related injury or illness.
WorkSafe BC reports that in 2016, there were 144 work related death claims in the province, that’s nearly three every week. Sadly , four of those claims came from loss of life within the boundaries of the Regional District of Fraser Fort George.
The statistics also show more than half (59%) of all the work related deaths were the result of work related illness as a result of exposure to asbestos.
