Alcohol Believed to be a Factor in Fatal Crash
Williams Lake, B.C. – One person is dead and two seriously injured following a single vehicle crash in Horsefly this morning.
North District Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says Williams Lake RCMP were called to the scene of the crash on Horsefly Road just before 1 this morning to find a pickup truck had rolled and collided with a hydro pole.
She says the force of the crash broke off the power pole which landed in the driver’s compartment of the pickup.
Saunderson says the driver was pronounced dead at the scene while two passengers suffered serious injuries. A third passenger escaped unharmed.
“A collision reconstructionist was called to the scene to assist the Williams Lake RCMP,” she says. “The investigation is ongoing however, at this time, police believe alcohol to be a causal factor in the crash.”
The crash knocked out power to around 600 residents in the area and the road was closed in both directions while police gathered evidence.
Names are not being released yet. Police are also asking witnesses to give them a call at 250-392-6211 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
