‘Scheduling Issues’ Lead to Cancellation of Weekend Advance Polls in Mackenzie
Mackenzie, B.C. – Advance polls are happening province-wide this weekend – except in Mackenzie.
“Advance voting was scheduled to take place at the Mackenzie Rec Centre today and tomorrow but had to be cancelled due to scheduling issues,” says Andrew Watson, communications manager with Elections BC.
“Unfortunately, this change happened too late to change the Where to Vote cards that were distributed this week, which show Mackenzie Rec Centre as open today and tomorrow.”
To help compensate, he says they’re adding a “mobile poll” at the Mackenzie Rec Centre this Monday. This poll will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
And as already scheduled, advance voting at the Mackenzie Rec Centre will take place from Wednesday to Saturday next week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Watson says Elections BC has two information officers at the Mackenzie Rec Centre today and tomorrow advising voters of this change and notes “we do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause any voters affected.”
