Prince George, B.C. – Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Prince George.
It warns thunderstorms could start late this morning and last into this afternoon while 10 to 20 millimetres of rain may fall.
The national forecaster says, “conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.”
Environment Canada also reminds residents large hail can damage property and cause injury. Heavy rain can also cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
It also recommends heading indoors once the lightning starts as lightning “injures or kills Canadians every year.”
