Province Urges Caution with Flood Potential
Prince George, B.C. – The provincial government is asking residents of the Central and Southern Interior to exercise caution and be prepared for localized flooding due to anticipated increased snowmelt, precipitation and higher than normal rain levels in recent weeks.
There has already been flooding in the Central Okanagan where an evacuation order is in place for Fintry Provincial Park. Emergency Operation Centres are also activated in the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District.
In addition to that, Environment Canada has also issued a severe thunderstorm watch for several regions in B.C. including Prince George – which could bring heavy rainfall amounts.
Any local authority or First Nations community that is experiencing flooding is asked to call Emergency Management BC at 1-800-663-3456.
