Prince George, B.C. – Prince George-Mackenzie Liberal candidate Mike Morris did his democratic duty by casting his ballot at Edgewood Elementary School today.

He says it’s a right voters should take seriously.

“Very important. They don’t have any room to complain if they don’t cast a ballot. If they cast a ballot, come in and see me, if you’ve got a complaint  I’ll talk to you.”

Linda Smerychynski, district electoral officer in the Prince George-Valemount riding, says traffic has been steady at the polls so far today though she hedged when asked when the shortest lineups are.

“It’s unpredictable. We find a lot of times people come during the lunch hour and after work, the rest in between, I just don’t know.”

Harry Hufty, electoral district officer in Prince George-Mackenzie, says some polls have been busy, others “dead quiet,” but adds things “often don’t pick up until later in the day.”

Polls remain open until 8 tonight and the counting will begin immediately afterwards. She expects the first results to be released about “a half an hour later.”
