Prince George, B.C. – The Cops for Cancer, Tour de North Team is busy fundraising for its September ride.
The annual ride raises dollars to fund life-saving pediatric research and the award winning Camp Goodtimes, where kids with cancer can take a break from their cancer journey.
The team is closing in on $38 thousand dollars so far, but that’s just under 20% of its goal.
The ride this year will be on the south to north route, starting in Williams Lake on Tuesday, September 12 with the team pedaling bikes 120 kms to Quesnel.
The team will arrive in Prince George on Wednesday the 13th, and start the 185 km trek to Mackenzie on Thursday the 14th.
In addition to stops in Williams Lake, Quesnel, Prince George and Mackenzie, the seven day ride will see the team visit Powder King, Chetwynd, Fort St. John and Dawson Creek.
There are 27 members on the team which is made up of representatives from the community, RCMP , Sheriff’s Service, BC Ambulance Service and Dispatch. There are four team members from Prince George.
While there are fund raising events scheduled in many of the communities, the Prince George events include a Burger and Beer night at the Westwood Pub on June 8th, a Golf Tournament on July 29th and a car wash on August 18th.
