Prince George, B.C. – A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to help develop a new space for content creators like podcasters, You-Tubers and gamers in Prince George.

The space is located in an old bank vault in Hubspace, which is located downtown in an old Royal Bank building at the corner of 3rd and Quebec.
“We’ve been looking at ways to draw more creative folks in to the Hubspace overall and we had this really cool character space in the old bank vault here,” says Matt Hutcheon, executive director of Innovation Central, the organization which operates Hubspace.
“We’ve been trying to figure out what to do with it and had the idea that it would be an ideal place for content creators to come and do their thing and get their content into the world.”
He says they are hoping to raise $4,000 and are about a quarter of the way to reaching their goal.
Hutcheon says the money would be used to provide the space with a proper microphone and video camera, some furniture, and a television.
“Everybody that we’ve talked to so far have been real enthusiastic about it. It’s been universally really positive,” he says.
“People see a need for that and are really excited that there would be a place to go that would have the equipment and give people a venue other than their bedroom or basement to try and do this sort of thing.”
The crowdfunding campaign lasts two more weeks. You can contribute by clicking here.
Hutcheon says any extra funds will be used to buy better quality equipment. Should they reach their fundraising target he says work will start this summer and the space will be ready to be used in September.
