Charity Car Wash to Benefit Special Olympics

Thursday, May 18, 2017 @ 9:35 AM

Prince Georg e, B.C. – Local Mounties, the BC Sheriffs Service and Prince George Fire Rescue are teaming up to raise money for Special Olympics BC.

The first responders will be holding a charity car wash this Saturday in the Canadian Tire Parking lot from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Car washes will be for a minimum donation of $10. They will also be selling 50/50 raffle tickets for $5 each.

Proceeds from the event will be added to money raised at the upcoming Law Enforcement Torch Run June 6 and donated to Special Olympics BC to support Prince George athletes.

“This is such a great cause, these athletes put all their heart into their respective sports and we are happy to help them to have that opportunity,” says RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Craig Douglass.

“And if that isn’t a good enough reason to get your cash washed, how often do you get a sheriff, fire fighter or police officer washing your car?”

a donation request with an amount attached is not a donation it is a fee.

Agree, pensioner on a limited income. Would like to support this, actually read the article to see where it would be, but ‘minimum donation’ put me off.

    I agree with you… Its not a donation…it;s a fee… Typical GovT …employees

Are you guy’s kidding. where else can you get a carwash in this city for under $10.00. That’s why they put a minimum on it, so they don’t get cheapskates like you throwing them a toonie.

it isn’t the amount it is the wording of the article.
call it what it is a fee, not a donation.
and I don’t have a problem with the recipients either.

Well if you do decide to go, make sure your cell phone is tucked safely away out of sight.

It sadden me that negativepeoplr can not appreciate the good work our community members do. Thank First Responders

And I would love to edit my spelling errors don’t know how! Cheers

10 buck folks, 10 bucks!

If you don’t want to pay it, don’t attend! Simple!

We still have some degree of freedom of choice! Isn’t freedom of choice wonderful!

Good stuff, good cause =]

I’ll pay twenty for this one. Great Cause!

Anybody that says $10 is too much or the wording of the article put them off had no intention of going anyway.
Kudos to the volunteers, I think I will run through with the truck and a $20!
