Burns Lake, B.C.  – A homicide investigation is underway in Burns Lake.

North District Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says a body was discovered at around 6:30 this morning on the south side of Francois Lake.

“North District Major Crime, and Forensic Experts have been called to the community to assist the Burns Lake RCMP with this investigation,” she says. “Police are working hard to gather all the evidence.”

Saunderson adds “a person of interest has been identified and is presently in police custody.”

She isn’t releasing any more information on the deceased at this time though she notes police believe there is no further risk to the community.
