Sunny and Warm Weekend in Store for Prince George
Prince George, B.C. – It looks like the weather is going to cooperate this long weekend.
Alyssa Charbonneau, meteorologist with Environment Canada, says we are looking at some sun and temperatures climbing into the 20s.
“I know that’s probably welcome news for many. There will be a little bit of cloud lingering potentially into the beginning of the weekend today and maybe into Saturday with a slight risk of a shower perhaps though very isolated,” she says.
“But as we get into the latter part of the long weekend a ridge of high pressure is going to build in over B.C. and we’re looking at sunny conditions and temperatures at 22 degrees for Sunday climbing up to 24 for Monday.”
She agrees it likely seems like a welcome change from previous May long weekends where the weather hasn’t held up.
“Well, it’s definitely the perception that is very common I think. I’m not sure we have any statistics about that anywhere but I know there’s a feeling that everyone is always looking forward to the May long weekend and then often it feels like the weather doesn’t cooperate. However, this year it looks like the opposite is true after a very wet spring.”
Charbonneau expects that ridge of high pressure will last well into next week with highs expected to hit 26 on Tuesday before tapering off later in the week.
