Search Warrant Leads to Drug Bust

Vanderhoof, B.C. – Six people are facing charges following the execution of search warrants in Vanderhoof.

North District Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says it started Monday, May 15 when Vanderhoof RCMP investigated a break and enter and a theft complaint.

Because of the investigation, she says a suspect was identified and arrested.

“During the course of the investigation, police discovered evidence of other offences resulting in search warrants being done at two separate homes in the Vanderhoof area,” says Saunderson.

“As a result, police have recovered stolen property, several firearms, as well police have seized a significant amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia.”

She says 19 charges have been laid in the case and more are expected. Six people are expected to face numerous charges.

“The District of Vanderhoof appreciates the hard work done by the Vanderhoof RC MP that has seen these charges being laid,” says Mayor Gerry Thiessen. “Our community is a much better place to call home because of their incredible effort and we thank them for their commitment.”

No names have been released.
