Prince George, B.C. – Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines.

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George provided conditional approval for a special events license for a motocross pro nationals event at the Blackwater MX track west of Prince George at their monthly board meeting in McBride last week.

Under bylaw, the District has the authority to grant licenses for special events with an expected attendance of 1,000 people or more.

Applicants must meet several conditions to ensure events are planned with appropriate consideration to public safety, security and comfort.

In this case, the Board gave its conditional approval subject to receiving outstanding information regarding insurance, health and sanitation, security, traffic control and parking, firs aid, and an emergency management plan. A building permit for any proposed temporary structures must also be issued.

Organizers have until June 1 to provide the required information until the license is issued.

The two-day event – put on by the BC Championships North and South Series – is scheduled to take place June 10 & 11.
