Prince George, B.C. – Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 9300 block of Old Summit Lake Road early this morning.
Assistant Chief Denis Poulin says the blaze broke out just after midnight with firefighters arriving to find heavy smoke and flame coming from the rear of the home.
He says two people were home at the time and were awakened by their smoke detector. Both were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
Poulin says crews entered the home and extinguished the fire – limiting the damage to the kitchen and dining area.
Fire investigators will be on scene this morning to try and determine the cause. Total damages have not been determined.
