Prince George, B.C. – The temporary closure of the Foothills Landfill is not expected to have any impact on residential garbage pick up today.
The City is aware of the problem at the landfill, which is dealing with a possible hazardous waste issue. The City says garbage pick up in the red zone is “business as usual” and if the landfill doesn’t open till later today, the material will be “kept on board” the trucks until the site reopens.
There are 4 thousand homes in the red garbage zone expecting pick up today.
The Regional District of Fraser Fort George is expected to provide more information on the landfill situation later this morning.
