Prince George, B.C. – Four food vendors will help kick off “Foodie Fridays” at Veterans Plaza in front of City Hall today.
Jen Tkachuk, the City’s civic events coordinator, says Spicy Greens, The White Goose Bistro, Frozen Paddle and the Tropical Moose have all signed up for week one which will feature an outdoor food concept.
“So, not only food trucks but food vendors with tents. It’s a little bit of a different opportunity than the normal food truck scene because you do have an opportunity to get served from local restaurants who don’t necessarily have a truck. It expands who’s able to participate.”
She says, “Foodie Fridays” will run every Friday from today until August 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include a range of food options each week. It’s a bit of a change from last year when it ran in August and September.
“We had quite a bit of rain in September last year so we shifted this year’s program from June to August. So, hopefully we get lots of sunshine and beautiful days to be able to eat outside.”
The City says the inspiration behind “Foodie Fridays” is to help provide a boost downtown, to support business, and to provide a space for locals to enjoy food outside.
Comments
The hospital hasn’t been able to have meals in the cafeteria for about 6 months now. Some of these foodie types should set up in the parking lot at the hospital to give visitors, day patients and the workers some options to have some a meal.
What’s the problem at the hospital?
Issues with plumbing that took out parts of the kitchen. Been doing repairs for months now. They won’t be enhancing the kitchen just getting it back operational.
beware, the claimed three hour parking allowance by city hall is really only 2 hours and 1 minute.
