Prince George, B.C. – The weather couldn’t have been better for today’s third annual Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of the Special Olympics in Prince George this afternoon.

Dozens of athletes and first responders – including members of the RCMP, Prince George Fire Rescue and the BC Sheriffs Service – participated in the short run around the RCMP detachment on Victoria Street.

“We are fortunate enough as police officers and this year first responders to help people,” said Prince George RCMP Supt. Warren Brown.

“It’s an extension of things we do everyday. We have people in our community that don’t have the same benefits that we do everyday. However, at heart they’re athletes and the proceeds of this goes to them to pay for competitions they take part in.”

He says the fundraising goal is to succeed last year’s total of just under $6,000. If you’d like to donate to this cause, click here.
