Sunday, June 11, 2017 @ 6:45 AM

Prince George, B.C.- As part of the City of Prince George’s  celebrations to mark the  150th  birthday of Canada,  a week long  music festival will be taking place in the Canada Games Plaza.

“We have performances  lined up from July 1st to the 8th” says  Civic Events Coordinator  Jen Tkachuk.  There will be live music at noon and  in the evening (7-10:30 pm) in  Canada Games Plaza.

July 1st is the only  day  when there won’t be a lunch time performance  and  there is no evening performance on  the 7th and 8th as the BMO KizArt Dayz are underway.

There will be fireworks  on Canada Day  to wrap up July  1st.

Tkachuk  says  there are some top performers on the week lone  performance schedule “Delhi to Dublin is going to be the big act  on July 1sr, which is huge.   We also have Bruce Cockburn on July 5th  and the Paperboys on July  8th.”

Lining up the talent  for this  week long event was no small feat,  as  many acts are  in high demand for sesquicentennial events right across the Country  says Tkachuk “Sue from the Folkfest Society  did an incredible  job of lining up the acts.  Heatwave is done in partnership with them and they have done a really bang up job in getting some incredible performers.”

The performances are free ,  and like the  Canada Winter Games,  the plaza will be open We will have one of the large stages,  the portable  trailer stage,  then there will be food vendors along  the promenade  at the Civic Centre.  We will have a few picnic tables for  people who want to sit and eat, but in general it will be open standing room.”
