Construction Set to Begin at YXS
Prince George, B.C. – Some big changes are coming to the Prince George Airport.
The Prince George Airport Authority is spending over $5 million in capital upgrades, including apron one rehabilitation, upgrades to Gate 2 in the Boarding Lounge and the construction of the elevator and new stairwells from the long-term parking lot to the terminal levels.
Construction will begin by the end of this month and are scheduled to be complete by the end of the year.
The first major project will be the replacement of the concrete panels on Apron One.
“We are asking the traveling public for their patience as we work to further improve their experience at YXS,” says Airport Authority president and CEO, John Gibson. “There will be some disruptions, but we will do our best to ensure the temporary changes are communicated to the public in a timely manner.”
Other improvements will include new flooring in the departures area, new check-in counters and a PA system.
Partial funding for the elevator project came for the provincial government while Northern Development helped fund the Gate 2 construction project.
