Alcohol and Distracted Driving Possible Factors in Pine Pass Crash
Prince George, B.C. – A fatal single vehicle crash on Highway 97, about 33 kms north of the Mackenzie junction last evening may have been caused, in part, by alcohol and distracted driving.
North District RCMP Traffic Services respond to a report of a single vehicle crash on Highway 97 in the Pine Pass around 8:30 last night.
When emergency services personnel arrive on the scene, they discover one person deceased and another person trapped in the wreck.
The jeep was travelling north on the highway when the driver lost control and drove in to the ditch. The driver was thrown from the Jeep and suffered severe head trauma. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger was removed from the vehicle and transported to hospital for treatment for injuries that are described as non-life threatening.
The investigation is ongoing and police believe alcohol and distracted driving to be contributing factors in this crash.
