U2 Coming to Foothills Landfill?

Prince George, B.C- Don’t get excited, it’s not what you think.
The Regional District of Fraser Fort George is applying for a rezoning of much of the landfill property. It’s not an effort to change current operations, it’s all about compliance.
Seems most of the landfill is in an area that is zoned AF, Agriculture Forestry. It has been that way even back in the day when the City of Prince George operated the landfill.
The rezoning application is to bring the landfill into current zoning policies, which require the landfill to have a U2 zoning. One section of the landfill already has that zoning, (the rectangular piece outlined in red within the blue area in the above image) the application before the City would bring the rest of the site into compliance.
The site is designated in the Official Community Plan for landfill operations, but the current zoning is not in line with those operations.
The rezoning will not see any expansion of operations beyond its current property lines.

Bylaw enforcement should have caught this 20 years ago. Grandfathering does not apply for zoning – the current “owner” gets the stop work order and pays the fine?
Looks like the former owner (city of PG) was also out of compliance. Fine them as well???
They are just getting the site ready for the next generation of SUPERtrees.
Someone just has to check on the silviculture prescription. ;-)
first nations need to be involved too
