Power Outage Impacting Much of P.G.
Prince George, B.C.- Nearly 6,000 BC Hydro customers are without electricity this morning as B.C.Hydro experiences a major outage.
The cause of the outage is under investigation and crews have been assigned to make repairs.
“We have three crews patrolling , looking for any signs of damage, and we also have crews at the Foothills sub station looking for any sort of issues there” says BC Hydro’s Bob Gammer. At this point the cause of the outage is not known.
What is known is that two circuits at the Foothills substation are out, as is one at the Chief Lake Sub station, which is tied to one of the Foothills circuits.
Traffic lights have been impacted at numerous intersections.
The power is out in the following areas :
- North Nechako Road neighbourhood from west of Highway 97 to City limits
- West of Hwy 97 , East of Foothills Blvd, North of 22nd Ave, South of Tabor Blv
- West of Ospika Blvd, South of Nechako Road
- West of Banzer Drive, East of Miworth Road, South of Chief Lake Road, and north of Cranbrook Hill Drive
In all there are 5,728 B.C. Hydro Customers off the grid this hour. There is no word on when the lines will be restored “Until we know what the problem is, it is only then that we will have a good estimate as to when power will be back on” says Gammer.
