The actual size of the fire is .2 of a hectares.
Smoke was first spotted around 2:30 this afternoon.
Initial response was by the Prince George Fire Rescue but B.C. Wildfire Service is now on scene to assist. Pilot Mountain Volunteer Fire Department is on scene, and is expected to take command as the fire is listed as being in their area.
A helicopter has been dumping water on the blaze ,” It has since left the scene so that’s a good sign” says PG Fire Centre’s Amanda Reynolds. Four Prince George Fire Centre firefighters are on scene and are prepared to assist if the Pilot Mountain Fire Department requests their help.
Reynolds says since there hasn’t been any lightning in the area, it is likely this fire was human caused,
We will post further details as they become available.

a HUGE thank you to the 250 staff for the speedy news delivery! Quite concerning this afternoon to be watering the garden and realize that there is a helicopter working picking up water nearby then flying over our house with the bucket still down. A quick run inside the house and the answer was here. Thankfully the helo was likely headed back to base when flying over and we are not in the line of something more scary.
Pretty awesome aren’t they, fire crews and 250.
