Valemount, B.C.-   One person has died in a crash on highway 5 northbound  near Valemount.

RCMP  say  a pick up and car  collided head on  around  6:30 this morning  in the 9500 block of highway 5, about 6 kms south of Tete Jaune Cache.

The highway is closed  through that area but local  detours are available.

A  collision  reconstructionist  from North District Traffic Services. is on the way to the scene.

The highway is not expected to re-open until  6 this evening.
