Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect for Prince George

Prince George, B.C. – Environment Canada has issued a sever thunderstorm watch for Prince George , Williston, McGregor  and the Peace Region.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail and torrential rain” reads the statement from Environment Canada.

(At right,  areas in yellow are  under severe thunderstorm watch).

Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
