Prince George, B.C. – Preparations are underway at UNBC to help Cariboo residents forced to evacuate from their homes.

250News has learned UNBC will be helping out with some emergency housing efforts by hosting residential home patients in its Neyoh residence.

The school also plans to make the Northern Sport Centre available for group lodging.

The City of Prince George’s Emergency Social Services team will manage the accommodations while key UNBC staff members will facilitate that process.

Details on the NSC’s availability are expected to be released in the coming hours or days.

Earlier today the City of Prince George announced it had opened an Emergency Operations Centre at CNC.

150 evacuees have already checked in.
