Friday, July 14, 2017 @ 9:51 PM

Prince George, B.C. – The Emergency Operations Centre for the Cariboo Regional District is announcing an expansion of the evacuation alert issued for Big Creek, northwest of Williams Lake.

Due to the potential danger the CRD has issued the alert for the areas west of the Fraser River from approximately 9 km north of Gang Ranch to the existing Big Creek Alert Area and the existing Fletcher Lake evacuation order area; directly south of the existing Alexis Creek evacuation order area.

This applies as well to the Farwell Canyon Road (2000 road), Farwell Canyon, Gaspard Creek FSR, 2000 Road and Mons Creek.

The Evacuation Alert is issued to allow residents as much time as possible to prepare in the event they have to leave their homes.  However officials caution that notice may be limited due to changing conditions.

In addition the CRD has issued an evacuation alert for Tatla Lake.  The affected area runs east 21.5 km from the existing evacuation order area at Kleena Kleene, including Tatla Lake, northern portions of Bluff Lake Road and Tatlayoko Road, Norn Lake, Lunch Lake, Little Sapeye Lake, the northern portion of Sapeye Lake and Patterson Lake.
