Over Seven Thousand Evacuees Register in Prince George
Prince George, B.C. – The City of Prince George says just over 7,000 Cariboo residents have now registered as wildfire evacuees at the Emergency Reception Centre at CNC.
Now a week into the fire outbreak which has threatened properties and entire communities in the Cariboo region, the City says 590 people have registered to stay in lodging at the college and at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre at UNBC. The remainder are staying in local homes or campgrounds and 600 are staying in commercial accommodation.
Evacuees will be receiving another update on the fire situation at 8 pm tonight in the Canfor Theatre at UNBC. It will be simulcast to Room 1-306 at CNC and at the Wolf Den in the Northern Sport Centre. The update meeting will also be live streamed on the internet at www.unbc.ca/livestream.
