Over Seven Thousand Evacuees Register in Prince George
Prince George, B.C. – The City of Prince George says just over 7,000 Cariboo residents have now registered as wildfire evacuees at the Emergency Reception Centre at CNC.
Now a week into the fire outbreak which has threatened properties and entire communities in the Cariboo region, the City says 590 people have registered to stay in lodging at the college and at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre at UNBC. The remainder are staying in local homes or campgrounds and 600 are staying in commercial accommodation.
Evacuees will be receiving another update on the fire situation at 8 pm tonight in the Canfor Theatre at UNBC. It will be simulcast to Room 1-306 at CNC and at the Wolf Den in the Northern Sport Centre. The update meeting will also be live streamed on the internet at www.unbc.ca/livestream.
As well, the City continues to take applications from those wishing to volunteer. You can register by filling out the online form or at 250-614-7835.

I would love to volunteer if I was living in PG.
I tried to volunteer for security as they had some undesireables float into where the legit evacuees are! I walked away in frustration due to disappointment in seeing how organized they were. They hire paid security, and from what I saw they need help. I have over 35 years in the Att-Gen dept., so I know my way around. Anyways I tried and will now carry on.
