Prince George, B.C. – Big Brothers Big Sisters Prince George is getting set to hold one of its biggest fundraisers of the year this week.
The fifth annual Big Squeeze takes place this Wednesday and aims to raise funds for the non-profit’s mentoring programs.
“It’s a city-wide lemonade stand. We contact a bunch of different businesses and this year has been amazing how many contacted us,” says communications and events coordinator Sydney Sankey. “We have over 30 businesses participating this year.”
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the participating businesses can be found on their Facebook page.
“And you can stop by any of those locations, grab a delicious cup of lemonade. Every place will have their own flavour and there are two trophies we’re giving out this year by our panel of judges,” she says.
“One for the best tasting lemonade and one for whoever raises the most money. Spruce Credit Union has won for the last two years though there’s more challengers this year.”
Sankey encourages any other businesses wanting to participate to call their office at 250-563-7410.
She says the Big Squeeze raised about $6,500 this year but notes with more businesses on board this year they’re hoping to raise $10,000.
