Prince George, B.C. – BC Hydro crews and contractors are coming off an extremely busy three-week period of restoring power and repairing damage left in the wake of the wildfires that have scorched many areas of the central and southern interior regions of the province.
Approximately 200 Hydro crews along with support staff have been working around the clock to restore power to over 49,000 customers affected by the fires since July 7th. They have also replaced about 900 pieces of equipment including 371 distribution poles, 261 spans of wire, 159 cross arms, 54 transmission structures and 51 transformers.
BC Hydro also announced recently that residential and commercial customers in evacuation areas will have an automatic credit applied to their account for electricity consumed during the time they were gone from their premises due to evacuation orders.
As well, customers evacuated or placed on evacuation alert can contact BC Hydro to speak about deferring bill payments, waiving late payment charges and setting up a flexible payment plan.

Whatever your feelings about these service providers BC Hydro, Telus, Shaw, Terasen Gas and several other service providers have been going non stop since the fires started and have done an admirable job in keeping things in check and service interruptions quite minimal considering the amount of damage that has occurred.
The service crews all deserve a pat on the back as well as many have been like hydrocrews working around the clock to keep these services going in this unprecedented event
